  • Institution of an Acolyte and a tour of a school

    Posted on February 20, 2014

St. Charles Parish Church was packed with elementary school students, staff and parishioners Feb. 19 for a special celebration, the Institution to the Ministry of Acolyte for Peter Nemcek, one of our seminarians now doing his internship year at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Winnipeg. The Liturgy was concelebrated by the clergy involved with the interparochial school, St. Charles School, including Msgr. Maurice Comeault, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and the school's Corporate Board Chair, and Fr. Paul Tinguely, pastor of St. Charles Parish. The students were fully involved in the celebration including the very rich musical setting for the Liturgy, music education being a strong emphasis of the school curriculum. I was given a very thorough top to bottom tour of St. Charles School by Dr. Anne Penny, school Principal and enjoyed visiting the classrooms of every grade. St. Charles School is one of the oldest in the city and like the parish church, sits on the bank of the Assiniboine River in south west Winnipeg.
