practical solutions to increase Catholic giving.

has ever asked for their donation back if they are unable to meet
their own needs after embracing the stewardship way of life.

# 16 – A New Twist in Stewardship :
A ‘Reverse Sunday Collection’
Session Overview
This
session will tell the story of how St. Agnes Parish in Concord , California
gave away $10,000 in a ‘Reverse Sunday Collection!’ Learn how
parishioners were challenged to combine the “treasure” they
received with their “time” and “talent” and apply
St. Matthews’ parable of the “Talents”. Learn what
happens when a parish gives parishioners money and asks them to return
it with increase. What creative ways can parishioners find to help others?
Is the money gone forever, or does it come back in some way?
Session # 24 – Stewardship and
the Family Budget
Session Overview
Stewardship
of treasure is about more than giving money to
the church and to those who are less fortunate. It encompasses every aspect
of personal financial management: earning, budgeting, spending, insuring,
investing, paying taxes, and estate planning. All money management activities
have the potential to be sacramental in nature and parish leaders have an
important role in providing financial education based on Gospel values.

St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish
Sanford , North Carolina
Session # 47 - The Relationship between Stewardship & Development
Session Overview
This
session involved the participation of the attendees in small group discussion.
The discussion focused on two questions;
- How are stewardship & development the same?
- How are stewardship & development different?
The
speakers then shared their views noting that there is no right or wrong
answers to these questions but that it all depends on our perspective, or
how we approach development in our parishes or dioceses.

Session # 12 – Planned Giving: 5 Basics for Any Size Parish
Session Overview
Many
parishes are instituting planned giving programs to encourage parishioners
to include gifts to their parish in their estate plans. The panel will discuss
basic steps for parish leadership to consider: promoting and marketing bequests
and other planned gifts; establishing a parish planned giving committee;
working with the pastor, school and parish ministries; using named funds
to generate endowments; developing, nurturing and stewarding planned gift
donors.
Session # 38 – From “Doing Stewardship ” to “Living
as a Steward”
Session Overview
For
many people, stewardship begins as something they “do”, a program,
one among many activities. Parishes often have the same attitude. As understanding
deepens, however, individuals and parishes come to understand that stewardship
is not something they “do”, it is something they become.
