"Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or to the consecrated life there is always the strong and intense prayer of someone: a grandmother, a grandfather, a mother, a father, a community... Vocations are born in prayer and from prayer; and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit." - Pope Francis, April 21, 2013
This prayer initiative is intended to help all the Baptized be consistent in praying for the sanctification of those who have already entered the priestly or religious life, for permanent deacons, for seminarians; and also for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. This initiative is universal and inclusive in nature, because we are all able to pray. View the Calendar on our website, or print a copy to leave on your fridge or another prominent place in your office or home, and pray for the intention of the day. Thank you and God bless!
The Archbishop of Winnipeg has designated Thursdays as the Day of Prayer for Vocations. We are asking individuals and parishes to set aside some time either for Adoration, Rosary, Mass, Way of the Cross, Liturgy of the Hours, Lectio Divina, or works of Mercy and offer them for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, in our Archdiocese and around the world.
