The Finance Office handles matters which relate to the temporal administration of the Archdiocese. This includes accounting, financial budgets and reports, investments, litigation and all matters related to Archdiocesan properties. The office provides direct support and advice to the clergy, parishes, and employees on a broad range of areas, including capital budgeting and insurance. These responsibilities are carried out on a day-to-day basis by the Finance Office of the Catholic Centre.
The Accounting and Finance department provides financial expertise for the Archdiocesan Catholic Centre, clergy, lay personnel and to parishes and other associated Catholic entities.
Accounting - Provide standardized operating policies and procedures to enable parishes to effectively manage their resources and to provide accounting for the Catholic Centre, ministries, offices, Priest’s Pension Plan and Lay Employees’ Pension Plan.
Reporting - Provide direction and support to ensure that our parishes and departments are in compliance with applicable Federal/Provincial/Municipal and Archdiocesan laws/rules and regulations.
Financial - Prepare the annual financial statements for audit and publication, for the Archdiocese, Priest’s Pension Plan, Lay Employee Pension Plan. Review in consort with Archdiocesan Committees major capital expenditures of parishes and schools. Review and monitor the financial performance of the Archdiocese, the parishes and other related Catholic entities as appropriate. Administer the Property and Liability Insurance programs for the Archdiocese of Winnipeg.
Banking - Monitor and ensure compliance with comprehensive banking agreement and Archdiocesan policies. Maintain banking arrangements, financing and reporting requirements for the Archdiocese and parishes.
